Community over Competition

You are not my competition

Daddy Bezos is my competition. Walmart and Target and mass produced art with no soul are my competition. The kind of art you see in chain hotels, chain restaurants and doctors offices the world over are what I am up against. I am sick of the black and white photo of the Scottish cow with bangs covering its eyes against a foggy farm backdrop.

I want people to be exited about art. To feel emotionally connected with their environment. To proudly hang locally sourced art in their homes and businesses. To have access to afforable art! These are my goals with TreeLilys.

You are my community

Every vendor I meet at a market is my community. I support them and they support me. We trade intel or items, we check in on each other and have each other’s backs.

Every client and customer is my community. You are the beating heart of any small business.

I have no coworkers, no boss, no HR. I am a one-women show. It can be lonely and isolating. When I meet another artist or creative who I connect with, it is such a pleasure especially while traveling solo.

I Aspire to inspire

I write these posts in this Small Business Resources format in order to inspire you- whether that means inspiring you to start a business, flex your artistic side, or support my small business with a purchase.

My experience starting TreeLilys INC might be unique, but I am not special. I firmly believe you, yes you, can do more than you think you are capable of. Now-a-days, I dream big. My successes are big and so are my failures.

But no man is a failure who has friends and in this sense, I am rich beyond measure.

Feel free to comment below on the idea of community vs. competition in the small business world.
